HGV Driver (six-month temporary position)

We are now looking for an experienced HGV driver to join our warehouse team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a confident, reliable and hard-working person who can work both in a team and on their own.  This is a six-month temporary position.

The role

Covering all five Gripple warehouses across Sheffield and Rotherham and reporting to the warehouse team leader, you will be working within warehouse operations and will become an integral part of the supply chain team. Primarily operating as a driver, the role will also include several warehouse operations:

  • driving between sites and suppliers whilst maintaining high standards of health and safety
  • upholding legal compliance for road transport legislation
  • loading and unloading pallets across our warehouses
  • partaking in regular stock takes
  • maintenance of 5S standards and general housekeeping
  • assisting with general warehouse operations

Working hours 

The position will entail working regular mornings and afternoons Monday to Friday. Night shift and weekend work may also be required to meet the demands of the business.  You will be required to help in other areas on site. A flexible, ‘can do’ attitude is therefore paramount.

Who you are?

To be considered for this challenging role, you must be keen to work in a warehouse operations team and flexible to work across multiple sites as and when needed. In addition, you must be :

  • in possession if a clean, full driving licence (essential), with a counterbalance/ reach forklift truck licence a distinct advantage
  • trained to operate category C vehicles
  • a holder of a CPC card
  • highly motivated and hard working with a positive, ‘can do’ attitude
  • able to prioritise tasks to maintain an effective operation whilst being flexible to ‘on demand’ requirements
  • willing to be able to work to time sensitive deadlines
  • computer literate
  • enthusiastic, with a good work ethic, willingness to learn and ability to work on your own initiative
  • numerate and able to communicate both verbally and written in a clear and concise manner
